Baja California story idea,Recently, I had watched a documentary film about Baja California, and it actually showed the ocean as well as the cactus forests that lined the coastlines and surrounding deserts. However, this has also given my an idea for a potential Disney film too, or even an animated film in general. If this has enough ideas, this can make for a full fledged tv series. The working title so far is Baja, but a full title for the story could be A Summer in Baja or even Viviana. The star of this film is a Fish-eating bat (Myotis vivesi) named Viviana and and the story focuses on her searching for her colony’s island home after being blown away from them during a storm and onto the mainland near Sonora, Mexico. Along the way, she befriends a human named Summer, who she then decides to help her out in finding the island where she lives. However, as they continue on their quest, they find themselves pursued by a vicious and sadistic Western gull who wishes to hunt down her colony for food.Cast of CharactersViviana - A Fish-eating bat who serves as the main protagonist. Friendly and brave, but slightly naïve due to her isolation from the mainland, she was flying out with her colony until a massive storm blew her off course and she landed on the mainland.Summer - A human girl who has moved from San Diego in order to do a school project on fish-eating bats on one of the islands. She is initially uncomfortable in the wilderness and is used to her home in the city, but during her stay in the desert and meeting Viviana, she starts to become more accustomed to the wilderness and succeeds in helping Viviana and completing her project.Negro - A black petrel who is Viviana's best friend. He shares her roost and is somewhat wisecracking, but also highly intelligent too, though he can say the wrong things at the wrong time. Later on he becomes a lot braver and willingly helps Viviana too in battling Ramiro at Alcatraz Island.Ramiro - A Western gull who serves as the main antagonist. He is a vicious seagull who enjoys striking fear in animals that he hunts, especially fish-eating bats. He is an arrogant, ruthless and sadistic predator and looks down upon humans too. He states that he hates humans due to them killing his colony, but this is revealed to be a lie when he arrives to Alcatraz Island with a colony of gulls ready to hunt down all the bats of the island.Ami - An antelope squirrel who lives in Baja California. She is a hyperactive neat freak who organizes seeds in a burrow. Viviana meets her one day and the two got acquainted, but Ami's somewhat crazy nature slightly unnerves Viviana. The rams - A pair of desert bighorn sheep that Summer and Viviana meet. They are shown to be stubborn and pugnacious.Isla - A bobcat that tries to eat Viviana on occasion. Later on, she watches the battle of the gulls and bats.Hernando - A Heerman's gull who serves as Ramiro's right hand bird. He is also extremely dangerous too, but he is also not as sadistic as Ramiro. In spite of this, he is shockingly intelligent despite initially having a bumbling persona.Quincy - A California quail who initially seems like a friend for Viviana, but he tries to sell out the bat and Summer to Ramiro later on.Alejandro - A pallid bat who lives in the desert. He later provides knowledge about Viviana's colony and their whereabouts too.Jacques - A jackrabbitKit - A kit foxFelix - A cougarCactus mouseCactus wrenSharkFur sealCollared lizardSide-blotched lizardsCoyoteBlack bearMexican wolvesJaguar

Zoological City: Tiger's Eye ch. 26Sundari laid down in her bed that very same night. Lon’s story definitely was pretty energy sapping and everyone that had heard it was definitely pretty stupefied by what they had heard. She could only chuckle to herself at the sheer idiocy that Lon had to deal with on that particular day when he had become a werewolf. But there was a sort of empathy that she could feel from that. He never started out as a werewolf, just as she never started out as a Weretiger, and how Savannah used to live among humans and could even live as one before she was afflicted by vampirism. But at the same time, Ichiko was a human and she became one of the most dangerous residents of this wild city. That same person who had potentially killed Murasaki, and had threatened her on numerous occasions while making unwanted advances towards Lon and even attempted to drown Savannah along with her once.Damn you Ichiko Koyote! Sundari clenched her teeth as she gripped the bed, her hair bristling as she tried to restrain her own anger! I’ll get you Koyote. I’ll make you pay for what you’ve done!Sundari rolled onto her side and her eyes then fluttered shut as she slowly drifted off into sleep.Sundari’s eyes then flew open. She found herself standing within a massive flowery meadow. Many of the flowers seemed to be blue to purple in color. They were irises. Sundari sat down in the meadow, taking in the peace and quiet of the scenery. The serenity of the place was something she had wanted for so long ever since coming to this place.“Hey there Sundari,” a familiar male voice said.Sundari turned. Lon was standing there, as calm and collected as ever, alongside Gyges, Mina, Murasaki and Savannah. “Hello Lon. You doing alright?” Sundari asked.“Well, we technically are, though we are wondering about you,” Murasaki responded.“I’ve been alright. I’m really happy to see you again Murasaki. I honestly thought you had died, that Ichiko took you with her over the falls,” Sundari said.“That did happen,” Gyges said all of a sudden.Sundari’s eyes widened up.“Not to mention that what you’re encountering is what you can expect to happen if you don’t get any stronger to defeat the Skinwalker you midget,” Savannah said sharply.Sundari almost leapt back, trying to restrain herself from punching Savannah. The vampire definitely had a sharp tongue, but it hadn’t been aimed at her particularly. Plus, she and the vampire had managed to make peace. What was going on here?Sundari closed her eyes shut for just one fraction of a second. Then, she opened them up again. The sky was completely red with black clouds and a reddish-white full moon, but the meadow was now covered in chrysanthemums, and the grass was red with blood. Sundari looked around. Her eyes were wide with horror. Mina was missing. But then, she noticed something else. Or rather, someone else.Lon lying on the ground, a knife laced with wolfsbane lying next to his motionless body. Sundari backed up in shock. What had happened to him?! How did this happen?!Gyges was seen strung up in a tree, also limp as his crumpled body hung lifelessly from the branch of an Oak tree. His staff was broken to pieces. Sundari backed up. “No,” she said to herself. As she staggered backwards, trying to wrap her head around what was going on, she then found somebody else on the ground. Sundari looked at the body. She shook her head with horror at this!Savannah. She had a massive wooden stake made of the bark of a Hawthorne tree. Her eyes were pitch black, almost looking like two hollow sockets, and her face contorted into a horrific agonized appearance, with the vampire’s body resembling a partially burned corpse, lying in a pool of blood.“You could’ve saved them and yourself Sundari, but instead, you couldn’t let yourself become the animal within,” a familiar voice stated mockingly.Sundari turned. Ichiko. Only she was in the form of a Dogman but with the hair on her head resembling that of her human form and her fur resembled her coyote form now.“Why don’t you join them if you wish to see them? Join them in the grave just like Murasaki!” Ichiko cried out as she lunged at Sundari, teeth bared as well and smiling wickedly!Sundari woke up screaming as she broke into a heavy pant while sweating fearfully!“What’s going on?!” Mina cried out.Savannah, Nicolas, Lon and Gyges also appeared as well, all in sleepwear too.“You’re all alive,” Sundari breathed out in relief.“When were we not?” Savannah asked grouchily.“Indeed. Plus, WHY WERE WE CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT AWOKEN?!” Nicolas said, spreading out a cape as well in a grandiose display.Sundari shook her head. “Nightmare,” she replied.“How bad are we talking?” Lon asked somewhat dryly.“Very. You were poisoned by wolfsbane and Savannah was literally staked in the chest,” Sundari replied. “Ichiko was behind it.”Savannah gulped and turned pale.“That’s not gonna happen as long as I have anything to say about it!” Nicolas snapped, embracing her protectively. Savannah then smiled and blushed.Mina placed a hand on Sundari’s hand. “I’m sorry about that. It’s pretty terrifying to have a dream that has those you care about dying,” she replied.Sundari nodded. “Been getting worse since Murasaki’s death,” she said.Mina nodded sympathetically. “Maybe we need to help you out a bit. You’ve been a bit stressed. How about a girl’s day out tomorrow with Savannah and I?”Sundari nodded. “That actually could work out,” she replied. This was a pretty decent idea and she was looking to get some relaxation and see some of the other animals. Maybe Rapunzel was also doing fine. Plus, this could give her an excuse to go out as well.Mina smiled. “Alright then. I’ll wake you up in the morning. I’ll stay with you if you want,” she said.Sundari nodded. “Well, Nicolás and I are gonna be doing something with Gyges tomorrow evening before the vampires do their search,” Lon said.“Alright, I’m looking forward to what you can do,” Gyges said. “Indeed. Don’t expect me to go easy on you Wolf Man!” Nicolas announced with pride.Sundari and Mina went into the same bed while Gyges and Lon went to their own rooms while Savannah and Nicolas went back to theirs. All of them quickly went to sleep as well. Sundari soon found herself in a slumber as well.Unexpectedly though……“Hey Sundari, wake up. It’s morning,” Mina said.Sundari rubbed her eyes as they fluttered open. Already, the sunlight was peering in through the windows. The Weretiger sighed to herself. At least she didn’t have a second nightmare that time. As she and Mina looked on, Mina seemed to be thinking.“There’s an Amazonia Cafe within the Kapok Theatre. We can go there as well if you’d like,” Mina said.Sundari nodded. “Well, I could use a bite to eat,” she replied.Mina snapped her fingers. “Perfect. I’ll get Sav!” She said before running off.Sundari quickly followed her. Did Savannah get any sleep last night? What exactly were she and Nicolas doing? The thought rang through Sundari’s mind as she and Mina entered into Savannah’s room.Savannah’s room was a lot more beautiful than she initially imagined a vampire’s sleeping quarters to be. It wasn’t a coffin at all but a decently sized bedroom. The walls had these pretty magenta colors and Savannah’s bed was next to a window. A typewriter was also seen on a desk and some stuffed animals were placed on the dresser.Savannah was seen sleeping in her bed, pink and purple blankets covering her body. Sundari chuckled. For somebody who could be as arrogant and full of herself, Savannah was kinda pretty. Heck, even her body was quite attractive as well. “Alright Savannah. The day could waste away,” Sundari said as she nudged Savannah. But Savannah wasn’t moving. Her body was as still as the bed she laid in. Sundari shook her head as she lifted Savannah’s head in her arms. Still the vampire was motionless. She then seemed to take in a breath as well, but nothing else occurred after that. It was almost as if she were dead or close to it. “Maybe this is where that undead vampire myth comes from,” Mina said.Sundari turned. “Well, we can’t just leave this girl here. Might as well take her with us and see if Batgirl here wakes up while we’re at the Kapok Theatre.”Mina nodded. “They’re showing Attack of the Killer Hornets today and I've already bought the three tickets for the showing. Let’s hope Savannah wakes up by then,” she said.Sundari immediately hoisted Savannah out of the bed and quickly got her dressed into a lilac babydoll dress with spaghetti straps and black skull and crossbones near the bottom as well as a pair of silver boots and tying her hair into her usual twintails style with a pair of black laces. Then, the two of them carried Savannah down the stairs and out of the mansion. As they did, they noticed all of the rooms where a vampire was sleeping was completely silent. It was as if they all entered a sleep like death.“Alright, let’s hope that the sunlight myth is exactly what it is: just a myth,” Sundari said as she opened the door.Sunlight same in and hit the three girls.Sundari turned to Savannah’s unconscious body.Nothing. No sparkling, and no burning up to a crisp.“At least she won’t have to hammer a stake into herself,” Sundari said to herself. “Telling her when she wakes up should be humorous.”Mina looked at her. “Wait, you thought she was gonna sparkle?” She chuckled.Sundari turned to the dhampir. “She mentioned if that happened to Lon, she’d fly out into the sun and hammer a stake into her heart,” she replied. “As for the other part, all vampires post Nosferatu were portrayed as being lethally vulnerable to sunlight.”“Don’t believe everything you see. Vampires don’t burn up or sparkle in the sunlight. However, it appears that they do lose their powers. Plus, they seem to have a reverse circadian rhythm compared to humans, so they’re active at night and sleep by day. Only it’s far stronger in a vampire it seems,” Mina replied.Circadian rhythms are the behavioral, mental and physical changes and organism has on a 24 hour period. They are mostly affected by the day and night cycle, and is primarily controlled by a small area in the brain, but food, body temperature, hormones, appetite and other various factors can affect this circadian rhythm as well.Sundari nodded as the three of them boarded the train. Well, two boarded the train. The third member was carried inside.“How long is she gonna stay like this?” Sundari asked.“Who knows?” Mina replied. “But we all know one thing. You’re not waking her up that easily. It’s just something a vampire has to come out of on its own, kinda like an opossum waking up from its coma.”When an opossum plays possum, it actually enters into a borderline comatose state called tonic immobility due to the stress it faces in a dangerous situation. They will also release a scent that smells like they’re rotting as well to top off the act. They cannot control this and they have to come out of it on their own, but they don’t fully lose consciousness and are still breathing.Sundari nodded. At the same time as she did that, a Greater spear-nosed bat landed by her. The bat turned to Sundari. Sundari looked down at the bat’s large brown eyes. The bat looked up at her.“Heading some place today Madame?” The bat asked cordially, her face pointed at Sundari and her nose leaf swiveling.Sundari nodded. “I am actually,” she replied. “The Kapok Theatre with my friends.”The bat approached Mina as well. “Hello there Spear,” Mina said.Spear nodded. “Morning to you Mina. Strange seeing you out at this time of day,” she said. But then Spear spotted Savannah sleeping on the seat, practically slumped over on the seat.“Your friend also seems to be a bit of a night owl.”Mina nodded. The bat wasn’t exactly wrong. But she couldn’t tell Spear that Savannah was a vampire. How would the spear-nosed bat even react to seeing the creature that gave vampire bats their name and by extension gave all bats a bad reputation?“Yeah, she frequently stays up. She’s like her bat friends. Flies by night, and sleeps by day,” Mina said.“Yeah, I can relate. Mind me sleeping with your friend?” Spear asked. “I need to regain some beauty sleep before I get back to the others. Got separated from them during a fight with some Carollia bats.”“Sorry to hear about that. I hope things can be handled between you and those Carollia bats,” Sundari said sympathetically.Spear nodded. “I plan to bring up the issue with the Bats of Prey. Those carnivorous bats are pretty good at these issues and the leaders there are well known for negotiation skills,” she chirped, her large ears and leaf-shaped nose swiveling as well. The train suddenly came to a stop. Sundari and Mina looked around. “What exactly happened with the train?” Sundari asked.Mina looked out the window with Savannah’s unconscious body in hand. All she was able to see made her jaw drop.Greenery was everywhere in sight. Massive trees rose from the ground and the sunlight penetrated through the leafy canopy. Butterflies and birds flew throughout the forest and the songs of numerous birds filled the air too. Bees and wasps also flew around in the air while flying frogs leapt in a controlled gliding descent. Dragonflies zipped through the canopy as they caught mosquitoes and other small insects in mid flight.Rainforests, particularly tropical broadleaf rainforests, are generally considered to be some of the most ecologically diverse biomes and habitats on the planet. Many species that live here cannot be found anywhere else on Earth. This is due to the fact that rainforests have high levels of plant growth fueled by immense rainfall - up to six feet in some locations and at certain times of the year - which provides lots of food for numerous animals. However, due to the high amount of plant growth, all of the nutrients are sucked from the ground, making the soil very poor in nutrients. Right in front of the station as well, just across from a bridge, was a massive kapok tree with a building within the trunk.“I believe we’ve arrived,” Mina said.“That’s a relief,” Sundari said. “Now help me with carrying the stiff.”Lon turned to Gyges as he continued down the path.“So how exactly would you power your staff?” Lon asked nonchalantly. “I use some stones to help charge it as well,” Gyges replied dryly. “Also, we’ve got Dogman tracks nearby too!”Lon turned as well. There were some dogman tracks nearby too. “Well, how about that? Sometimes you get lucky,” Lon said.“You can do more to help you know. Why not make yourself useful and shift into wolf form to get a better idea of the scent?” Gyges said bluntly.“Very well then.”Lon then shifted into his wolf form and began sniffing at the tracks.“My sense of smell is not as strong as a bloodhound’s, but I’ve got something,” he said.Wolves have a relatively weak sense of smell compared to some other dogs, as a study indicated that wolves cannot smell anything over 1.6 kilometers. However, no experimental data exists to support this and wolves seem to have higher levels of scent recognition compared to domestic dogs.“Perfect,” Gyges said as they followed the tracks, Lon leading the way as well.“Let’s hope this is actually those Dogmen and not something really unpleasant.”Mina and Sundari lifted Savannah into the Kapok Theatre as Spear fluttered off into the rainforest.“What time is that show again Mina?” Sundari asked. The dhampir turned to the weretiger. “It should be just after dark. But we should be back long before the clan heads out. However, you might want to watch the streets as well because these guys will be patrolling the nighttime skies,” she replied to Sundari.Sundari looked inside the theatre as she carried Savannah inside. The sun was getting a bit lower in the afternoon sky. Mina also saw the sun on the horizon as well. She then turned to a nearby sundial as well. The shadow of the sundial’s hand was pointing to the number two in Roman numerals.“2:00 pm. This was a longer train ride than I thought,” Mina said as she and Sundari carried Savannah into the theatre.“We took a local, so we were stopping at virtually every stop before the theater. We are literally one station away from Animal Junction,” Sundari replied.Unbeknownst to the two of them, the sound of buzzing could be heard in the air as well. At the same time, a black and red-orange shadow loomed over the theatre, the low pitched buzzing or humming noise getting closer and closer and louder and louder……Sundari placed Savannah in a seat as Mina sat next to her in the restaurant section of the Kapok Theatre. Sundari sighed and slid down as well on the wall.“That was hectic. Now we gotta wait three hours as well before the show begins,” she complained to Mina. “Just our luck. And we gotta watch your friend the stiff too.”Mina looked on. “At least she can wake up when sunset comes. If she was in bat form and was the same size as the fish-eating myotis bats, she’d essentially be living on borrowed time,” she explained.A study on bats indicated that any bat that survived in daylight for 64 hours had a 99% chance of mortality from predatory birds. During the time that bats appeared, predatory raptorial birds like owls, small hawks, falcons and roller-like birds may have posed a serious competitive and predatory threat to ancient bats, forcing them into the nocturnal predator niche.Sundari gulped. At least she didn’t have to worry about this too. Life for a vampire sucked if this is what they had to worry about going catatonic in the day and having to worry about predatory creatures that might want to take revenge on them. “Have you ever been teased for your height?” Sundari then asked.Mina turned. “At what point?” She laughed.Sundari turned. “Any point?”Mina nodded. “I have. But it’s honestly never really bothered me if I’m being perfectly honest. Have you?”Sundari nodded. “I have back at home, and it’s made me kinda sensitive at times as well. The fact that I become a tiger now but still am this tiny girl isn’t even funny,” she replied.Mina nodded. “Well, ever told them how it felt if it bothers you?”Sundari shook her head. Maybe she should do that at some point, she thought to herself.Another question struck her.“Well, how do you and Savannah get along with each other so well?”“Found common ground, and she was the first member of the Harvestar Clan to befriend me. Probably because we are so close in age. She is also good for taking me on flights as well.”Mina turned to her. “Heard you helped her fix her standing in the community as well,” the dhampir then said.Sundari turned. “She told you that?”Mina shook her head. “I heard it from at least one of the people in her old town when I left after Lon’s story. A girl named Kaitlin and her boyfriend Nate I believe. Savannah and Nicolas were on a date with each other as well, though she was also in a far better mood as well.”At the same time, the buzzing continued to approach as a dark shadow loomed towards them. Sundari turned around as she heard the humming of wings approaching.“This better not be a fly,” she muttered to herself. But then, as she turned around, her eyes widened up in horror! It was not a fly at all. It was a Northern giant hornet! And there was not one hornet, but around several hundred. Almost certainly there was more than one hive involved. The hours rolled by as well. Then, Sundari saw the sundial hit 5:30, and the sun was already setting as well.“Hey Sundari, our duo is becoming a trio once more!” Mina cried out.Savannah’s fingers twitched as well and her body began to move too, before she finally rose to her knees and her eyes flashed open as well. The whites however were pitch black, almost like hollow soulless orbs, with only her normally purple irises now being a red color. Sundari could now see Savannah’s fangs appearing in the upper jaw, like how a viper’s fangs can become revealed.Mina then grabbed a bottle of a dark red liquid as well and passed it to Savannah as well. Savannah quickly uncapped the bottle and drank down the liquid. Sundari shuddered as she saw that, trying to fight back the urge to vomit. She instinctively knew what Savannah was drinking.Savannah’s eyes turned from pitch black to having normal white sclera and her eyes regained the normal violet color as she finished off the bottle as well.“What am I doing here?” Savannah asked somewhat groggily.“We took you to see two films on hornets,” Mina replied, hugging Savannah.“Last time I was aware, I was still in my room. I’m not naked am I?!” Savannah said.Sundari shook her head. “Nope. Your dignity is spared. We took care of that ourselves,” she replied.Savannah looked down. Indeed, she was wearing the lilac babydoll sundress with spaghetti straps and black skull and crossbones near the bottom as well as a pair of silver boots and tying her hair into her usual twintails style with a pair of black laces. The vampire sighed in relief. “I hate it when I end up naked or seeing another werecreature naked.”“Wait, that’s happened before?!” Sundari asked.“It’s extremely rare but yeah, it has,” Mina laughed. “Werecreatures and vampires have both ended up nude when shifting from beast to human.”“You done talking? Because we still have a serious problem!” Sundari cried out, pointing to the massive swarm of hornets flying nearby.Savannah turned to the hornets. “Uh, Mina, Sundari? WHAT’S WITH THEM?!” She screamed to the girls, her eyes widened in panic with her pupils like pinpricks.“We just came here to watch the movies! You don’t have to scream like that!” The leader of the hornets buzzed.“You’re just here for the movies?” Sundari asked. The hornets buzzed in reply.“Well, you had us kinda scared for a moment. Wasps usually don’t get a good rep with that, as they usually sting anything that comes within range,” Sundari said.“We do that to defend our nests. I don’t see why we can’t just keep ourselves,” another hornet replied. “Besides, we just want to watch a movie with you guys in peace as well, no strings attached.”“Well then, now that that’s out of the way, let’s enjoy the show together,” Mina said. That was something everyone could agree on, and that was precisely what they did.
Zoological City: Tiger's Eye ch. 25Sundari looked on from amongst the small gathering of deer within the edge of the Harvestar Estate. It had been only a few days since Murasaki took Ichiko over the falls with Fouke as well as Benedict’s small memorial service in her honor. The Weretiger turned to the council room nearby. Already, the vampires were holding a council inside. Sundari approached tentatively as well, standing near the door.“You finally managed to get up I see?” Gyges said. “Better than sulking inside all the time.”Sundari rolled her eyes while chuckling to herself. “Yeah, it is, but what’s going on in there? Mina, Nicolas and Savannah have been inside with the other Harvestars for a few hours now.”Gyges turned. “Whatever those leeches are discussing, it must be highly important.”“Too important for us to know?”“Apparently so,” Shadow the black jaguar replied.Lon also approached too. “At this point, I’m really fed up with getting crushed on by a freaking psycho,” he said nonchalantly. “But then again, that just seems to be life here nowadays.”“Life here nowadays? How exactly are you so calm about this?! Murasaki’s dead and it’s because of those beasts!” Sundari exclaimed.Lon sighed. “Hey, I’ve been in fights like these before. I literally have been staring death in the eye each day. No telling how many times I’ve cheated death ever since I became a werewolf.”The calmness of the reply also seemed to surprise Sundari.“Became a werewolf? So you’re also originally a human?” Sundari asked.Lon nodded. “I was originally a human, and we definitely had an interesting story about it.”“Well, I’d certainly would like to hear this,” Sundari said.Lon pointed to the door. “Wait until Mina and Savannah come out and then we can have our ragtag group come along here too. I’d like to find a place to tell it where we can also set the mood.”Sundari turned to the door with concern.Benedict turned to the other members of the council, his eyes looking around the room at the others.“The Skinwalker is gone as far as we know, but we’ve found no trace of the body to confirm the kill, and no trace of the werejaguar or the savage Fouke Monster,” Benedict said. “Not to mention that Radan and the Dogmen are still at large. We need to find them now, and leave Radan to me.”“Hold on a moment. We should also try to find out what they’re planning too. That way we can come up with a decent strategy too in order to deal with Radan too,” Raven said. “Allow me to find him.”“Raven, how come you’re concerned about Radan and finding him aside from what you just said?” Savannah asked.Raven turned to Savannah. “I know Radan as well as you do as well. I might be able to trace a lead on him.”Benedict turned. “I appreciate your initiative Raven, but I figured I’d take him because I don’t want any loyalties to be tested as well when dealing with Radan. I also have a personal score to settle with him. In the next three nights, we are all going to search for Radan as well. Dismissed!”All of the vampires left out the door.Savannah and Mina came out after Raven and Melissa.“So what happened in there?” Sundari asked.“A search party is planned for Radan,” Mina said.Savannah nodded. “And Benedict mentioned he didn’t want Raven’s loyalties tested. Something’s going on, and I’m gonna find out what’s up. I was assigned to her for it,” she said.Sundari nodded.Lon turned. “So, anybody know where we can set up a potential bonfire?”Savannah turned. “Bonfire?”“You’re gonna tell us that story?” Gyges said.Lon nodded. “First, we need to set up the mood for this.”“This is gonna be completely idiotic,” Gyges said.Lon turned to Gyges. “How did you know that? Some kind of mind reading or telepathic spell you have on you? Magic that allows you to see into the past?”Gyges facepalmed himself. “I’m too tired for this.”Mina turned to Sundari. “Well, this might be a really stupid tale, but I know a place just so we can entertain him,” she said.Sundari turned. “You do?”Mina nodded. “And I wasn’t wondering about this by the way.”“I was. If it really is as stupid as you guys are making it out to be.”Mina pointed out to a small clearing near a city park.“That place? But that’s just an empty lot. There’s nothing and nobody there,” Sundari said. “Found that out with my first night out with Ichiko.”Sundari then got silent as well after she said that. Everyone soon got quiet as well, an uneasy feeling was present in the air after the Weretiger said that.Lon turned to Gyges and Mina. “Maybe one of us should change the subject as well,” he said.Sundari and Savannah turned. “That would be good.”Lon nodded. “We meet there then, in that lot. Then, I can tell the story of how I became a werewolf,” he said dryly.Savannah rolled her eyes. “After that, maybe I can tell you how I became a vampire then. Spoiler alert: vampires are a natural species here! We’re not undead here!”Mina turned. “I already knew that Vana,” she said.Gyges sighed. “This is gonna be stupid. This is gonna be stupid,” he said to himself in annoyance.Sundari looked around as the group was talking with one another before she peered out the window. A look of slight melancholy was also on the face of the Weretiger. Why couldn’t she have been able to potentially stop Ichiko? Murasaki wouldn’t have had to die for her or Savannah had that happened. And what exactly happened to Ichiko anyway?Gyges turned to Sundari as well before he sat down next to her. “Still thinking about the witch?” He asked.Sundari nodded. “Yeah, and I’m wondering if Ichiko is still there, like what if she comes back?”Gyges glared as he looked outside. “She’d better not show her face here again, cause I’m gonna kill her if she’s still alive and dares to do such,” he said to himself menacingly.Sundari nodded to him. There was some sense of anger to what Gyges was likely thinking as she then walked off to her room, with Gyges also walking to his and shutting the door.Sundari laid on her bed, morose. I can’t believe that Murasaki went down with that witch and that swamp stomping savage, she thought to herself. Her fists clenched. If Ichiko so much as shows her face again after that, I’ll make sure she pays for what she’s done. Murasaki and all the other victims of the Skinwalker will be avenged! The next evening came by without any issues. The dusk chorus of various crepuscular and nocturnal animals calling in the skies awoke Sundari. The haunting melodious call of a Nightingale rang through the forest and wafted in the breeze, entering into the Harvestar Mansion as it did. Sundari was the first to rise. There was also a level of apprehension too when she heard a knock.“Well, it’s about time,” Lon said from behind the door.“Yes, I know Lon,” Sundari said. “Something tells me this is gonna be really really dumb though.”Lon chuckled when he heard that. “Yep.”Several moments later, Sundari found herself with Lon alongside Gyges, Mina, Serena, a black-furred Bigfoot, Savannah, and Nicolas.“Alright then, if everyone else is ready, I’m willing to begin now,” Lon said.Serena sat down next to Sundari and the Bigfoot. “So what’s this all about?”Sundari facepalmed herself. “Lon’s werewolf origins.”Savannah seemed to be applying lipstick as well. “Well, we’re gonna be looking into the mindset of a werewolf that turned in what might be the dumbest thing I’m ever about to hear,” she said.Sundari turned. “I know it’s dumb, but why do you have to be like that?”Lon turned to Sundari. “The vampire’s right. It is pretty dumb and that’s actually a valid reaction,” he said nonchalantly.Gyges looked around. “Alright. Everybody’s here, including your old friend Daku the Bigfoot here. Now let’s get this crap over with so we can all get something to eat,” he said.Nicolas nodded. “Besides, we creatures of the night also have our own plans too.”Gyges rolled his eyes. Pompous bloodsuckers.Lon sat down in front of the bonfire before clearing his throat. “And now, I begin my story. It all started on a fairly warm summer day about two years ago…..”“Wait, you don’t know how long it took?!” Nicolas and Gyges interrupted as they leapt up out of their seats in surprise!“Who’s telling the story here?” Lon responded. The sorcerer and vampire sat back down, mildly grumbling under their breath.Lon continued on. “As I was saying, before I was interrupted, my story begins on a warm summer day…..”A large passenger train screeched to a sudden halt within one of Zoological City’s parks. As soon as it did, a trio of boys, one of which is as a human with light skin, silver eyes and brown hair, that human boy being Lon himself, while the other two consisted of an Okapi and a Pygmy hippo, along with a Nilgai antelope and a Mountain tapir, came off from the train as well along with a few other animals.“Well, here we are: Baobab Forest. Without incident I might add,” the Mountain tapir said with a smirk on her face. Well, the tapir equivalent of a smirk anyway.Lon sighed as he facepalmed himself while the Okapi and the Pygmy hippo, named Bud and Lou respectively, seemed to look around. ‘Well then Bud, what do you say we start going off to see the sights?” Lou asked. The Okapi turned to him. “Gladly. Think Ms. Tapir might be looking for love?”“I think she’d want you,” Lou replied to Bud.“No you!” Lou replied. The hippo and Okapi seemingly hitting each other with their hoofed hands as well.Lon rolled his eyes. He had never been informed of these idiots being part of the trip, and if he had, he likely would’ve stayed home and pretended he was sick. One of the other animals, a Eurasian Lynx, trotted to him.“Felix, you could’ve informed me they were coming here too. They cannot lead to anything good,” he said with apprehension.Felix sat with him. “The school psychiatrist forced them to come along. And I just found out about it today too,” he said as Bud and Lou seemed to be punching each other as well. Suddenly, Lou turned his head. “You reckon that’s a predator over there?!” He cried out.Bud turned to him. “That’s just a rock Lou,” he said. “Sure it’s not a bear butt?”Lon shook his head. “Well, best we make the best of this situation. Though I’m still worried of something going south. Knowing those two, it’s not a matter of if, but when that’ll happen.”That did not take long to occur. Shortly after the entire group had arrived, they soon came up to what appeared to be a large grey rock too while they were kayaking down a stretch of the local lake within the park. The rock was slightly submerged within the reeds and cattails close to the muddy shoreline.Lou was the first one to approach it. Lon held back with Felix and the teachers. “Dude, I think maybe we should be careful while investigating strange rocks jutting out of the water’s surface,” Bud said, following Lou.“It might be a good place to be able to sit and rest Bud,” Lou said as he got on top of the grey rock. Lon shook his head. Even Felix hunkered down in the boat.“Guys, that doesn’t look like a rock. I’m not getting a good vibe about it. At all.”Lou seemed unconvinced. “Oh come on. This big dumb rock can’t possibly hurt you!” He said, pounding on the rock with his forelimb. But at the same time as he did that, the rock began to move around in the water, as a tail began to move as well. A head then began to surface from below the water’s surface too and everyone was met with a mouthful of one and a half foot long tusks inside gaping jaws!“HERE’S HENRY!!!!!”“HIPPO!!!!” Bud screamed out!“I told you!” Lon cried out as he rowed off with everyone! Henry charged after everyone from the water, running on the bed of the water under the surface too, only surfacing just to take a breath!Hippos cannot actually swim, but they are so dense in terms of their body structure, having lots of muscle and very little body fat, that they are capable of walking and even running on the bottom of a lake, stream or river as long as they can rise to the surface to breathe. This means that a hippo can ambush you from underwater as well and you wouldn’t even know it until it’s too late.Henry then lunged at everyone, and as he rushed at them, a massive wave of water was shown from the wake he left behind as several of the boats were capsized!Hours later, everyone was seen in a field near the lake, with the angry angry hippo a very safe distance away from them.“Well everyone, now you know why it is unwise to approach a hippo from any direction,” the Mountain tapir commented. “Fortunately, we were able to escape without any serious injuries and all of the supplies we needed were in my kayak.”“Wait, where’s the Eucalyptus juice?” A koala asked, looking around somewhat frantically. “Along with the food and drinks?”Lou turned. “Uh, I think that was in my boat,” he said in surprise.“What?!” Lon asked in shock. “What the heck?! Why would you put anything in your boat?!”“Lon, there’s no need to get upset. We’ve got the perfect pantry here: nature. At the same time, we also got perfect snacks here too,” the Nilgai said.“Oh yeah? What?” “The humble acorn.”Acorns actually can be edible for human consumption if properly prepared, but raw acorns contain tannins which are toxic if consumed, making raw acorns unsafe for human consumption. However, proper soaking or boiling will remove the tannins. Acorns are also a popular dish for many herbivorous and omnivorous animals.Lon was now starting to wonder how long her could go without food on an empty stomach as well as not getting any water in his system. Then he realized that everyone could be there for days and they had no spare food or bottled water on them. At all.“How could this happen to me? I’m stuck in the woods with three herbivorous stooges with no food or water.”The koala gave him a hit on the back. “Hey look on the bright side. You’ve got us. And besides, you said wood, so you should go knock on wood!”Lon stood up. “That’s it! I’m going for a little walk,” he said and walked off. The young teen looked around at the forest surrounding him, taking in the beautiful scenery of the greenery around him along with the various flowers in the woods. Lon would’ve felt at peace if not for the fact that his stomach began growling. Loudly.GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRLon looked around, but he then noticed something else.“The ground’s wet. It must’ve rained last night.”He looked further ahead and noticed several other footprints as well. Deer, fox, bear, coyote, cougar, and wolf pug marks everywhere. But then, Lon heard something else.Click click click click!Lon climbed up to a rock and spotted something as well.A large sounder of White-lipped peccaries trooping through the woods, led by a large male as well. The sounds of their jaws clapping together could be heard throughout the forest. Lon wondered if maybe he could ambush one. Just one peccary would be enough to feed me and I could take the food they found too and bring the plants back to camp and the dead peccary for Felix and I.But he quickly dismissed the thought as well. That would be tempting fate if the peccaries got an idea of where he was and even he wouldn’t try to attack such a large well armed group.Peccaries don’t have the best vision due to their small eyes, but their excellent sense of smell and hearing more than compensate for that! And with as many as 300 individuals in a group, the highly social white-lipped peccaries can be dangerous adversaries to even jaguars, as they will actively mob the big cats, and using their vocalizations to drive the spotted cats up trees as they do.Nightfall descended on the forest sooner than everyone expected after Lon returned to the makeshift camp. All of the animals and Lon sat by a bonfire as well.“Anybody want to start the tradition of a campfire song?” The Nilgai asked.“I’ll do it,” the koala said.At that point, the koala starting making a song. Well, what they considered a song.,Lon, Felix and Bud held or pinned their ears flat from the koala’s squeals and grunting bellows.“That was dumb,” Lou said.“Oh come on, that was a good song. My family taught us that. As did my cousins and siblings along with other relatives in our isolated forest,” the koala said. “It was really popular is all I know!”“From what place? Alabama?” Lon asked. But then, they also heard something else rustling in the bushes.“Shush! Did you hear that?” Ms. Tapir asked all of a sudden. At the same time, a large shadow moved around behind them. Everyone’s heads turned around. The bushes and leaves rustled and the sound of footsteps fast approaching started to come until……“AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!”Henry the hippo lunged out!“HOLY CRAP! THE WICKED HIPPO IS BACK!!!!!” Everyone screamed out as they ran off! Henry charged after everyone, with Lon trying to run off as well. He managed to turn a corner but then he careened down a small gully and into a muddy ditch!“I gotta go get help!” Lon cried as he got out of the mud. Lon continued around within the dark, but the trees looked completely identical. The path which he came on was nowhere to be found. It then seemed like hours were passing as well, and Lon was only moving around in circles, only adding to his frustration. The only source of light he had was a full moon above him.Lon sat down. He hadn’t had anything to drink for hours. His throat was incredibly dry, and his lips were parched as well. The lake was also gone, and all that surrounded him were the baobab trees. Hunger and dehydration continued to eat at him with ever growing intensity. Nevertheless, Lon continued to press on, but his feet dragged as they did and his running slowing down too. Henry the hippo was still out there, and he didn’t want to meet him. Then, without warning……WHUMP!Lon collapsed to the ground, panting and trying to catch his breath. The bellows of the hippos rang through the air as well. Lon then looked ahead. Then, he found a silver lining, or rather, a silver reflection.A small puddle of water, illuminated by the light of the full moon, and within the paw print of a wolf. Lon pulled his body over to the puddle, his arms aching from the effort too, and with the last of his strength, he pulled himself to the puddle. Lon placed his face down near the puddle and he drank from it.“And that’s how I became a werewolf,” Lon said, back in the present day.Everyone looked on completely dumbfounded by what they had just heard.“That’s it? You just drank stagnant rainwater from a wolf track underneath the full moon?!” Gyges hissed.Lon nodded. “Yep. Pretty stupid am I right? I drank it and turned into a werewolf,” he said.Gyges groaned. “That was the dumbest story I’ve heard in my life!”“I think I felt some brain cells die trying to comprehend that nonsense!” Nicolas said.“You gotta be kidding me!” Daku shouted.“What a bunch of idiots!” Savannah hissed.“That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard!” Sundari cried out.Lon nodded. “Now you know how I feel,” he said.“So what happened next? What happened to everyone else?” Mina asked.“I managed to use my werewolf abilities and find the rangers’ station. Everyone got found by the rangers by the time I got there though and I just went home. However, turns out the puddle also had wolf beastman saliva in it. Now I’m stuck as a werewolf,” he said.“And that’s my cue to go home now!” Gyges shot out as he walked out. “See ya!”Sundari nodded. “Well, I don’t feel as down as before. Too bad I was brought closer to death as well.”The Weretiger then walked off as well. “I cannot believe I had to listen to that load of tripe!”Nicolas and Savannah also got up. “You want to head over to the Kapok Theatre? It’s Bat and Cat Night there,” Nicolas asked.Savannah nodded. “I’m all ears,” she said. The two vampires then flew off into the nighttime skies."After that, we can check into a hotel for the night for some quality time," Savannah said.Nicolas nodded in agreement.Serena headed off with Mina and Lon went off with Daku.Lon shook his head. “That Skinwalker probably had a less stupid origin despite how vile she was,” he said.At the edge of a lake, several scavengers such as vultures, crows, ravens, brown and striped hyenas, jackals, coyotes and adjutant storks were seen surrounding a still body, the body was soaked. The birds looked at Ichiko’s body. One of the adjutant storks, specifically a Lesser adjutant stork, walked up to the body, looking down at it.Lesser adjutant storks are the smallest of the adjutant storks, a genus which includes the Greater adjutant and the Marabou storks, and generally are somewhat less likely to scavenge than the other two. However, they will occasionally scavenge if they want an easier meal.“Not only is this girl big, she’s already good for the pickings,” the lesser adjutant said as she leaned her neck down at the body. Then, a hand rose up from Ichiko’s body and grabbed the lesser adjutant stork by the neck!“EEEEEEEGGGGGGGHHHHKKKKKK!” The stork cried out as she was pulled down with tremendous force as the other birds flew away in fear!CRUNCH!!!!“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!”Those were the Lesser adjutant stork’s dying screams. At the same time, a sinister laugh was heard as well.“Ahahahahahahahahaha…….”
Zoological City episode 105Jasmine and Jennifer dodged the stroked of a Windigo, narrowly avoiding the talons of Mikom!Tigerwing turned to Corvick. “I don’t know how long we can hold them off!”Tawny turned. “This is even worse than the time we had to take on those parrots during the bat and toucan war a year prior to this!”Mikom suddenly lunged out, swiping several crows from the sky! The crows fell down from the sky!On the ground, Sundari and Ryu circled Ichiko! Ichiko lunged out at Sundari, who kicked her away almost expertly, while Ryu shot fire at any approaching Windigo! The Windigoes began to disperse as well, trying to avoid the flames! “Ryu, be careful that you don’t burn down the entire forest while you’re doing that!” Sundari cried out.Ichiko leapt onto her! “I should’ve done this if you were gonna be such a thorn in my side tiger!” She snarled! “You should’ve died a long time ago!”Sundari spun around wildly, throwing the Skinwalker off! “I wish you had died instead of Murasaki!”But then, Ryu’s tail lashed out and Ichiko was sent flying into a tree!“Thanks,” Sundari said.Ryu nodded as they rushed off. The flying animals were already flying off too, Tawny having sounded the retreat!“Bats retreat! We must all retreat now!” Tawny screeched. The bats fled with the crows and Tigerwing as the followed Sundari and Ryu.Mikom turned. “After them! After all of them!” He cried ohtCaroline grabbed another piece of firewood and passed it to Ray, who threw it onto the pile next to a dilapidated building just on the fringes of the city park. The massive Carcharodontosaur let out an exhale of relief as she walked into another larger building. “That’s the last one,” she said. “Now we gotta wait for those things to come out and hide.”Lorelei turned to Caroline. “How long exactly have you dinosaurs been at war with the Windigoes?”Caroline’s vertical eyes turned to the human near her. “It’s an ancient war that stretches back ages. My ancestors actually were involved with this war a long time ago,” the theropod explained. “Do tell?” Ray said.Caroline nodded. “I think it’s about time that I explained the full story to you guys.”Caroline then turned to the Carcharodontosaurus. “Make sure the entrance is guarded too. If Kaito comes about, have him and any of the other students inside too.”The Carcharodontosaurus nodded. Almost as soon as he did that, Kaito, Kathy and Michelle rushed in with Teodora and Salvatore. Altaica, Katrina and Ora also joined in with Sundari and Ryu.“They’re on their way, but the bats and crows are helping Tigerwing hold them off as best as they can,” Kaito said.Caroline nodded. “And right on time. It’s about time I explained the full history of the Windigoes feud and how we dinosaurs had possibly the first Great War to stop them once, a conflict that spans back ages.”The other carcharodontosaurs closed the doors to the building that they were hiding in.Lorelei stood nearby, listening intently as Caroline began to recount her history with the Windigoes.“Many ages ago, back during the first days of Zoological City, after Ammon had brought a small group of animals and humans to the new settlement, many more immigrants began to enter into the town. But the humans and the animals existed without much in the ways of order or laws, and Ammon’s lessons soon started to become forgotten. Nobody knew the hunters from the hunted. However, the animals were still learning the rules of this urban jungle. It is during this time that the inhabitants of Zoological City generally kept to themselves to avoid much conflict with their fellow man or beast. But the animals that were on top of this good web were the archosaurs, predominantly the dinosaurs along with birds, pterosaurs and crocodilians.Through the archosaurs all peace in the city was able to be maintained. But there also needed to be a way for all of the archosaurs to discuss on how to maintain what little order there was in this massive city.A young Giganotosaurus one day came up with a novel idea. ‘How about we gather up all of the strongest archosaurs and we create a place for them to discuss ways of maintaining the city’s laws and order?’ He suggested to a bunch of other archosaurs, ranging from bird to crocodilian to dinosaur to pterosaur.A huge Acrocanthosaurus looked to the Giganotosaurus. They were already almost of a size and had he been older, he would’ve had easily exceeded her in size. ‘Are you sure that will be a good idea? We are not of one mind.’The Giganotosaurus nodded. ‘I’ll be the one to help out in overseeing the council, but I will need your help too Lady Akron.’Lady Akron nodded her head in approval. ‘As you wish Sharktooth.”The most powerful of the archosaurs - those that remembered Ammon’s teachings regarding unity as well as diversity and strength in differences - were then brought together in a massive arena formed under a large canopy of trees to form the Saurian Council, a select group that was in charge of maintaining the peace within the city. Under the rule of Sharktooth and Akron, many animals and people began to feel a lot safer.Under many of the new laws, order started to be brought in.One law being that no animal or human would trespass on the territory of the other without warning.Conflicts between neighbors must not end in lethal violence.Always maintain respect for each other.Only hunt to feed and ensure that the death is quick, merciful and painless and ensure the prey does not die alone, and only hunt non sentient animals - applies only to meat eaters.Keep Ammon’s teachings sacred and remember them.Do not kill members of your clan and do not eat them if you do!Do not be afraid to stand up for what is right.Throughout these small set of laws, many trials and tribulations were settled. Predator and prey relationships became more or less tranquil, and many creatures also started to get to know each other a lot better.Friendships began to form between different species too, and rivalries between species soon started to decline over time. Predator and prey were able to strike up peace and despite occasional hunting, feuds were generally avoided. But not all of the citizens agreed with the Saurian Council. They viewed these archosaurs as being monstrous as some had attacked the people in the past and were wary of the chance that many of the carnivores could attack, even though herbivores were shockingly the main danger, as carnivores were generally more apt to hunt prey that could sustain them for a while and they could catch, kill and eat quickly. Humans were too bony and small for that. But one day, everything changed.‘Chancellor Sharktooth! Chancellor Sharktooth!’ A Alioramus screeched out.Sharktooth approached him. ‘What is going on?’ The Giganotosaurus asked, concern present on his face. The Alioramus lowered his head in reverence.‘We have a serious problem. Some humans have gathered outside and they are requesting an audience with the Saurian Council immediately!’There was a group of settlers - human and animal settlers - that approached the Saurian Council. One of them, a man named Mikom, had a sad story to tell.‘Greetings Mikom. What have you come to speak about?’ Sharktooth asked with a gentle tone.Mikom - then a strapping young man with black hair and ice blue eyes - stood at the Giganotosaurus’ feet. ‘Chancellor Sharktooth, I am requesting your help in dealing with some vicious dinosaurs that had attacked my village. They ate many of our families as we starved during the previous winter. I watches my mother succumb to starvation and my wife get torn to pieces by a Tyrant. If you don’t do something soon, we will all perish!’There was obvious fear and concern as well as sadness in the leader of the group’s voice.Chancellor Sharktooth nodded, agreeing to help, but something did seem off to the Giganotosaurus. Mikom did not look like he was starving to death or had weathered. He came to the council as a strapping man who easily weighed in at around 200 lbs. and had a very healthy appearance physically too.Chancellor Sharktooth turned to a Hatzegopteryx within the council along with Lady Akron and an Aiolornis.‘I will be at Mikom’s settlement to investigate an issue, but I will need at least one eye in the sky too. There is something that seems off about Mikom’s story and I may need support nearby in case things go south.’The Aiolornis turned. ‘I’ll watch from the air.’ She said.‘Thank you Annie,’ The chancellor said.Aiolornis gets its scientific name from the Greek god of the wind Aiolus, with the -ornis suffix meaning bird in Latin, essentially Greek bird god of the wind, a very fitting name for the largest of the North American teratorns, and second largest after the giant teratorn Argentavis. As he approached Mikom, Chancellor Sharktooth nodded to Mikom. ‘Take me to your village if you please.’Mikom nodded and walked off, turning his head away from Chancellor Sharktooth, his lips forming on his face as he continued. Chancellor Sharktooth followed behind, his footsteps silent despite his movements.Chancellor Sharktooth then came up to as the two of them continued on their way. The two of them plodded on, past various trees and even up until they came to a stop.‘Stop!’ Mikom cried out.Chancellor Sharktooth halted in his tracks. Right in front of him was a large village with several houses along with what appeared to be a large mansion too. Several trees surrounded the town, which was encamped in a clearing in the middle of the area.‘We are here,’ Mikom stated. Chancellor Sharktooth nodded. ‘I think it would be best to explore the area to assess the situation too,’ the Chancellor said.Mikom nodded. ‘I’ll go over to check the trees. You go investigate the town center.’Annie looked on before she soared after Sharktooth, unfurling her wings as wide as she could and flapping with broad strokes. Her massive wings kept her aloft in the sky. She then spotted the Giganotosaurus and slowly alighted down onto his back. The Aiolornis looked on with radar like vision.Raptors have excellent vision thanks to their extremely acute vision. This makes them excellent at spotting prey from far away.Sharktooth looked around. ‘Something’s wrong here Annie,’ he said, uneasiness in his voice. Annie’s head turned around. But then, she unfurled her wings, preparing for flight as she began to flap them slowly yet deliberately. The teratorn then suddenly leapt off of the Giganotosaurus’ back and alighted down towards the ground, right next to Sharktooth’s feet! Right on the ground was a human body. It was lying face down in a pool of blood, and the body looked like it had been torn open. Organs were lying on the ground too near the body. But the worst thing by far…..the body was partially consumed, but not fully.Annie backed up in shock. Chancellor Sharktooth’s eyes widened up, disturbed by the horror of the sight that met him at that very moment.‘W-W-What is this?!’ Annie hissed in shock!Sharktooth looked on. ‘These bite marks didn’t come from a dinosaur! There’s something vicious here!’At that point, a spear flew by, narrowly missing both the Carcharodontosaurid and the teratorn!‘There they are!’ A Cro-Magnon woman cried out!‘Man eaters!’ A Neanderthal man bellowed!More humans and Neanderthals began to encircle the two Saurians, starting to tighten the noose around them, aiming spears at them. Annie snapped her beak and spread her wings out in warning, while Sharktooth snapped his jaws in warning.‘We don’t want to hurt you. We came here to see what was going on!’ Annie said.‘You expect us to believe that after your raptors came and took us in the night along with those giant owls of yours?!’ A Neanderthal woman shouted out, clear anger was present in her voice!‘I haven’t ordered any of that to occur, and we don’t have giant owls with us,’ Sharktooth explained.‘That’s what I’d expect you to say after all these months of hunting us!’ A Cro-Magnon man hissed.Chancellor Sharktooth turned to them. ‘Please, calm down all of you!’ He said. But then, just as the chancellor said that, a spear flew past him, grazing him in the flank!A small gash appeared on his shoulder, blood dripping from it.A Cro-Magnon woman was seen without a spear.‘Tell your comrades that we are going to avenge our fallen brethren!’Annie turned to Sharktooth. ‘Come on! We better move-NOW!’ She said as she leapt into the air and soared off.The Giganotosaurus rushed off.‘After them!’ A Neanderthal cried out.At once, all of the humans ran off after the two Saurians, a cloud of dust trailing behind them. For a while, the dinosaurs raced away, far enough for the humans to no longer be able to see them. ‘What is going on here?’ Annie askedMikom watched on. Sharktooth spotted him. ‘What is the meaning of this Mikom?! What did you tell them?!’A sadistic, sinister and triumphant glee across his face.‘I explained that you were responsible for the deaths that they have been plagued by for so many years. They would automatically eat it up too since they naturally are a prey species,’ he said. Sharktooth’s eyes widened up. ‘It was you. You did it! You killed those humans! That was no theropod raid!’Mikom nodded. ‘Yes, I killed them. And you take the fall!’The man then started to shift into another form! White feathers with dark brown streaks and a blood red spot on the chest appeared. His nose grew a sharp hooked beak and his hands and feet became as black as burnt charcoal. His eyes turned blood red, and tufts stood up on his head. His arms grew massive feathers and became wings, with his hand claws sticking out too!He had become a Windigo! The teratorn and Giganotosaurus looked on in shock and horror! What was this thing that was in front of them?!Worse still, humans were starting to gain on the two members of the Saurian Council!‘I suggest we make a hasty retreat!’ Annie said.Sharktooth nodded and the two of them raced off while the Windigoes watched on, out of sight as the humans raced after them!‘This is the end of the Age of the Archosaurs, and the beginning of the Kingdom of the Windigo!’ He said to himself as numerous other Windigoes started to appear, hooting and screeching in laughter at what had transpired!Annie and Sharktooth finally managed to slow down near the council buildings. The sounds of the mob of humans was gone, having turned silent. Annie looked around in the sky. As she circled around the trees, there was no sign of the humans anywhere. Neither Cro-Magnon nor Neanderthal could be detected in the distance.‘Not gonna jinx it,’ Annie said to herself before flying down to the ground.Sharktooth turned to her. “Anything coming to get us?”Annie shook her head ‘no.’But at that moment, a spear flew past all of them, and they all heard it connect with flesh. All heads turned. A Merriam’s Teratorn’s eyes were widened, a spear in his chest. The teratorn then collapsed to the ground, his wings partially folded in shock.Annie turned to the teratorn, her beak dropping in shock!‘MARION!!!!!!’And with the sudden death of Marion at the hands of a human spear, the Great War between the Archosaurs and the humans had begun. For many days and nights, battles between the two factions raged out over territory and to avenge their relatives.Archosaurs plundered human settlements.Humans attacked archosaurs at their breeding colonies or nest sites.Humans met their ends at the jaws of various large theropods and large birds like the terror birds and many large raptors or pterosaurs. The humans were able to hold their own thanks to their weapons, but the archosaurs were more than able to counter with natural advantages such as speed, stealth, superior strength and night vision. Flying archosaurs like pterosaurs, and large birds, also had the advantage of flight too.For years, the fighting raged on, and many countless lives were lost.. Eventually, when Rose’s tenure at the Saurian Council began, when I had yet to be born, Rose soon learned about what had happened too from one of the survivors during my ancestor’s time in the war.At that point, Rose decided to seek out Mikom as well. He had poisoned the minds of the humans involved in the war, and many innocent lives were lost, and families broken.Mikom would be brought to justice. A Kelenken along with a Steller’s sea eagle and a Eurasian eagle owl among a few others came with Rose to where the Windigo was last known to have been seen.Rose led her group to the massive building, which to her surprise, was just on the edge of the main city. It was a massive barn house and it seemed fairly rundown too.But as Rose looked around with her fellow dinosaurs, Guillermo the Kelenken, who accompanied her, turned his head.Guillermo turned.‘Rose! Look out!’A massive owl monster leapt out from a rafter and straight towards her head, but Guillermo tackled him! Rose spun around and managed to swat him with her long tail! The Windigo then leapt off as well and lunged back, slicing into her with his black talons! Oh how they burned when they touched her. It felt as cold as ice when they hit her flesh! However, the thick bushy feathers of the Windigo also meant he was able to deflect some milder blows. Rose managed to get her jaws on his arm and threw him off! Guillermo then attacked as well, pecking at him with his beak and kicking him out of the barn house! The Windigo flew out from the building and crashed to the ground, right in front of a bunch of humans! The humans stood in shock as the Windigo got up to his feet, now in his human form. Rose walked out of the building and faced him head on, both of them waiting to make a move. They circled around like snakes for several minutes, all eyes were watching them.‘My my, what a mess you have all caused us,’ a strange man said. ‘Looks like we have two monsters amongst us too.’The humans looked on too, some had weapons on hand, and they started to encircle the group too.Bit by bit, they tightened the noose.Rose's eyes looked around, but she noticed something else about Mikom. He seemed to be somewhat wary too. Not just of her but of the people too.But then, a boomerang tripped up the Windigo! The Windigo crashed to the ground!Rose couldn’t believe her eyes. The person responsible for throwing the boomerang, standing over the Windigo, was a human, with dark black-brown hair, dark brown eyes too and the bangs covered her left eye too. The boomerang returned to her and she caught it in one hand.‘Are you okay?’ She asked Rose. The Giganotosaurus nodded.‘I am now.’“Get away from that beast!” Another human cried out. ‘She could kill you with a single bite from her jaws!’The human that helped my ancestor turned. ‘Really? It seemed that this thing was also the one who’s been a bigger thorn in our side for the past several months. I actually managed to spot him attacking one of our neighbors!’Rose’s eyes widened. Here was a witness to the attacks.‘It wasn’t dinosaurs attacking us?!’ Another human cried out in shock!“You can’t believe this one! She’s been bad luck ever since arriving!” The strange man stated. Rose looked at that person. He looked very similar to what Mikom’s human form looked like.Rose stepped forward. ‘Let her speak!’The human girl smiled. ‘Thank you.’She then pulled out a Snow White feather from her sash. Mikom’s feathers seemed to bristle when he saw that. The human noticed it too. “It appears you recognize this?” She asked. The Windigo snarled. ‘You stole from a Snowy Owl nest?!’The human turned to the Windigo. ‘I’m an ally of the owls too, namely the Great horned owls or Tiger owls! This feather didn’t come from any ordinary owl. And you seem mighty tense too!’But then, as Mikom started to move off, Rose noticed another human moving nearby. Mikom then lunged out at the human, but Rose lunged out too, knocking the beast off of his feet too! The human girl that defended Rose also leapt out too and pinned the Windigo!‘What are you doing?! That’s my cousin!’The Windigo suddenly shifted as well, his arms turning into wings with only the hand claws sticking out and talons emerging from his feet too! With a violent twist, he spun around, grabbed the human girl and threw her into Rose! All of the humans suddenly backed up too in shock and horror! The strange man then sauntered off in the panic.Another human then spoke up. ‘That’s the creature that attacked my great grandfather by about 40 generations!’ He cried out! ‘His feet match the prints found near his body!’The beast looked on as more and more people began to rally by the human and Rose's side! The Windigo glared at Rose as well in menace! Then, the Windigo unfurled his wings, preparing for flight, but the boomerangs hit him and he fell from the air, crashing to the ground!‘You dare interferes with my victory!’‘No! You’ve already lost!’ The human girl that protected Rose said. ‘You’re not going anywhere just yet!’Rose stood over the Windigo menacingly. Her eyes blazing as she faced the Windigo.‘Tell Mikom, that you and all of those who followed you have brought upon great suffering and misfortune upon all of the residents of Zoological City for many decades now! As of now, the war that you started thanks to your manipulation is history!’All of the humans faced the Windigo, eyes narrowed in anger as well as Rose stated her verdict.‘As of now, the Windigoes are hereby banished to the Ice Forest. If any Windigo sets foot here, they will be dealt with swiftly and without mercy!’The Windigo seemed to back up, faced from all sides by human and animal alike. But then, the massive Windigo spoke.‘Here is Chief Mikom’s promise: You humans and theropods may not know it yet, but I’ll be back here one day. That shall be the day that human and animal and beastman alike shall tremble before us, starting with your descendants.’And with that, he flew into the air with a screech and numerous creatures like him flew out of the surrounding trees and deep into the forest, disappearing beyond the horizon. The strange man looked on, away from the crowd and within the depths of the forest. He then shifted into a Windigo. It was Mikom!Mikom watched on from the forest and disappeared out of sight.Rose looked on with the human girl.‘What is your name?’ Rose then asked her new ally.‘Kairi,’ she replied. ‘Kairi Tyger-Griffin.’‘And I am Rose Sharktooth.’Rose and the other archosaurs along with the humans, animals and beastmen searched out Mikom as well, certain he was hiding somewhere. But he was never found. Ever since then, the dinosaurs and humans along with all animals and beastmen fought to maintain the peace as a means of insuring that such a war would never happen again, and it also served as a stark reminder of just how bad the misunderstanding between humans and carnivorous animals could be. When it was time for my tenure, not only did I help out in the Saurian Council, I became a teacher to help teach both humans and animals to live together so they could avoid the disaster of the past.”And with that, Caroline finally finished.Everyone that was listening was sitting in shock and disbelief at what they had heard. Many shook their heads, trying to wrap their heads around what had gone on too.Kaito turned to Caroline. “How exactly will this also pertain to us too?” He asked.Caroline nodded. “Because I figured that the past should never be forgotten, because the things that are forgotten have a frightening way of coming back.”Eventually, the bats, Tigerwing and a few crows flew in through an open window.“Ms. Sharktooth! The Windigoes are in their way here right now! We managed to make them back off for a while but their on their way here!”Caroline nodded. “Thank you Tigerwing! Everyone, take positions. We finish this.”Kaito nodded. He was ready to battle for his old home too.“Once this is over, I’m coming for you Tayasu!” He said to himself with menace in his tone, his eyes narrowing in anger and his teeth clenched against each other.Tayasu rode the train as it entered into Zoological City with Anderson, Pecari, Venus and Dexter along with his herbivore allies. Dexter turned to Tayasu. “What’s going to happen with us now Tayasu?” The capuchin asked with some worry.Tayasu turned to him. “First, we are going to find my sounder along with an old friend of mine. Then, we need to pay a visit to the prison. I have some unfinished business to attend to with an old relative of mine,” he replied.Tayasu turned to Andersen. “Andersen, you and Venus gather up the Tsavo Brothers and Mfuwe once we get off this train. This will be the day of the new dawn of the mighty reign of Jungle Law!”
Zoological City: Tiger's Eye ch. 24Sundari groggily stretched out, her green eyes fluttering open as she turned her head, scanning her surroundings intensely as well as the skies. Already, there was a dark sky with a waxing half moon. Stars glittered in the dark navy blue sky and a comet streak through the sky.Who cooks for you? A barred owl cried out. Who cooks for you?“How long have we been asleep?” Sundari asked herself. “It’s already nighttime.”“The entire stinking day, and everyone’s thirsty and hungry,” Gyges said.Lon looked around. “Anybody seen Nicolas anywhere?”Savannah turned to him. “My darling went to try and find the Harvestar Estate,” she replied.Mina turned to Gyges. “So what exactly should we do now?” She asked. “This is certainly not a familiar area I’ve been in.”The entire area was covered in ferns and cypress trees, along with cattails in the area and large amounts of water and weeping Willow trees grew from the banks. The calling barred owl flew off over the horizon.Savannah’s jaw dropped. “Are we actually lost in a swamp?!” The vampire cried out.“Yep,” Sundari and Lon replied bluntly. “And we can go look for any food and water too. You want to come?” Sundari said. Savannah rolled her eyes. “You gonna be okay with Mina Wizard boy?” She then asked Gyges with some concern. “And Mina, you Gonna be okay with him?”Mina nodded. “I would like to have another hang out with you and Sundari after the Pope Lick Monster ruined the last one between us, along with Sundari helping you out with facing your past,” she replied.Sundari turned. “That’s a night not worth remembering,” she growled.Even Savannah nodded in agree to those sentiments. “Yeah. Don’t remind me of that. Ever!” The vampire then shifted into her bat form and flew off. Sundari followed her, as did Lon.Gyges rolled his eyes. But then, his eyes widened up.“Wait a minute! You all fought the Pope Lick Monster too?!” He asked Mina.Mina nodded. “Wasn’t so much of a fight though as us nearly getting hit by a train on that trestle bridge.”Then, a massive black bear sprinted past. “It’s Fouke!” He cried out before running off.Mina turned to Gyges. “Fouke? Maybe we should find the others and then return here,” she said as she rushed off with Gyges.Gyges shook his head. “This day just keeps getting better,” he said as he followed her, unaware of a shadowy figure flying through the sky.Lon and Sundari looked around the swamp in curiosity, both of them morphed into their wolf and tiger form respectively. “You familiar with this place?” Sundari asked.Lon nodded. “I am. I often like to go around the city whenever I get some time to get some time to myself,” he replied calmly. Sundari nodded. At the same time, she sat on the ground. “You feeling a little hot here?”Lon nodded. “Not too much.”Sundari nodded. “The Harvestar Estate was cooler, and more comfortable too.”Tigers, despite being largely tropical animals, are largely intolerant of high temperatures and will try to keep cool in any warm climate that they’re in. Usually, this relief is in the form of mud and especially water.Lon looked around with his eyes. Then, he spotted something nearby. It was somewhat sparkling too, sunlight reflecting off of the surface. Sundari spotted it too.A large sparkling pond of clear fresh water.“Looks like we can get a drink here too!” Sundari said.Lon nodded. At the same time, Savannah landed nearby and shifted into her human form. “Finally, a drink. It’s hot up there and swamp gas reeks,” she said. “Anybody have a bottle on you?”Sundari shook her head. “But I’m gonna get a drink as well,” she said.“What about me?” Savannah asked.Lon shook his head as he grabbed her by her winged arm and dragged her to the pond.Sundari’s eyes narrowed as her ears flattened. A quick search in order to make sure the coast was clear. All they could see were the trees that encircled the lake of clear fresh water. Sundari took a few laps alongside Lon. Savannah also sipped some up too.Huff…..huff……huff……huff…….Sundari then turned around. Leaves rustled in the bushes. The Weretiger unsheathed her claws. Lon turned alongside Savannah. Out from the bushes……“I am kiwi. I am kiwi. I am kiwi. I am kiwi…..”A Great spotted kiwi walked past them, changing that same phrase as he went by.All three beastmen sighed out in relief. “That was definitely a relief,” said Savannah. But almost immediately after she said that, a massive form burst out from the trees! It resembled a massive bipedal primate but it had long dark brown fur and light skin on the hands and feet as well as a face similar to a human and a chimpanzee! His brown eyes were practically shooting fireworks and his agape mouth revealed four massive fangs as long as those of a lion’s!“YOU!!!! GET AWAY FROM MY WATER!!!!!” He roared out.As soon as he said that, he grabbed Lon and Savannah and with all of his brute strength, threw them into the air and deep into the swamp forest! Sundari’s jaw practically dropped when she saw that. The monster then glared at her, sparks shooting from his eyes. Sundari gulped as she backed up from her foe, who was ready to dish out the same treatment.“Prepare to die for your crime, TRESPASSING TIGER!!!!!!” He screamed out.Sundari finally sprinted off with the beast behind her!“NOBODY STEALS FROM PERCIVAL P. FOUKE!!!!!” The creature bellowed out, his roar practically shaking the forest surrounding him and Sundari! The Fouke Monster is a Cryptid from the southeastern United States, predominantly in Arkansas, gaining its name from being sighted in the town of Fouke when it was first encountered. Out of all the Sasquatch creatures in the United States, it rivals the Gugwe as being the most dangerous.Gyges and Mina also rushed towards the sound.AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!“That definitely didn’t sound like any known animal within the city,” Mina said.Gyges nodded before grabbing some stones from his pocket and then charging up the staff with them. Mina then mumbled an enchantment and started producing what appeared to be small sparks of magic too.“Never seen that before,” Gyges said.“It’s only mild,” Mina said. But just as she said that, Sundari leapt from the bushes and shifted back into human form! Mina leapt out of the way as Sundari slid on the loose soil!“Sundari! You’re back! But where are Lon and Savannah?” Mina asked.“This big beast came from the forest and sent them flying!” Sundari said.Bushes rustled near them. Sundari took up another fighting stance.“Stay behind me. I’m gonna blast this guy and I’ve just about had enough with being chased by a bunch of psycho beasts,” Gyges growled, continuing to charge up his staff. The leaves rustled and moved. Then…..“Ugh. That was definitely not my best landing,” Lon said as he came out.Gyges, Sundari and Mina all got wide eyed.Lon looked in confusion. “What are you guys looking at?”Unbeknownst to him, he was completely covered from head to toe in thorns and porcupine quills, several of which were half a foot long!“Okay, you’re here, but where’s Sav?” Mina asked.“She got thrown a few meters ahead,” Lon said. Sundari turned to Gyges as they headed off deeper into the forest.“I’m gonna tell him,” Gyges grumbled.Sundari shook her head. “He doesn’t seem to be too badly affected. How he is able to do that is beyond me. But I have been able to take that waterfall without any injuries,” she said.Gyges nodded. “Plus, when we can find Mina’s bloodsucking parasite, then we can focus on dealing with whoever the heck is after us now! No! Wait! Why is it that whenever something happens as of late, we’re always being chased by some of the most ornery beasts in this stupid behind city?!” His voice had a high level of irritation in it too.Sundari nodded. “As if I know now. I just hope Nicolas comes back soon. Hopefully with help. And Murasaki too. We could really use her help.”Nicolas soared through the air, his eyes scanning the skies. “How hard is finding assistance nowadays?!” But at the same time, he spotted a massive shape flying through the air on black wings. It appeared to be a massive bat, but it seemed to resemble a Greater mouse-eared bat, only with dark grey or jet black fur with a few paler streaks. Nicolas recognized the bat by the mane.Benedict.“Count Harvestar! Mr. Harvestar!” Nicolas called out.Benedict alighted down to a tree branch as Nicolas landed near him. “We landed over down there,” Nicolas said, pointing to a grove of trees that was just nearby.Benedict nodded. “Excellent. Murasaki’s also on her way, but the Skinwalker also is onto us too.”Nicolas nodded. “Alright then. Let’s fly!” Nicolas said, spreading out his wings before leaping into the air. Benedict alighted as well. But then, he also heard a loud sound burst from the swamp forest.AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!Benedict seemed to smile. “Ah, Fouke. My old nemesis…..”Mina and Sundari looked around with Lon in the trees a short distance away. “That should keep him away. Helped Gyges create a small barrier around our current position, but he’s the only one powerful enough to keep it up,” Mina said.“I can hear you up there!” Gyges said.Sundari looked down at him. “As can we!” The weretiger shot back.“Hey! Somebody let me up!” Something screamed out. Gyges turned and saw what appeared to be a dark grey brown bat-like humanoid crawling over to the barrier. The creature appeared to have moss and a water lily on the head. The wings were folded in a way to allow for quadrupedal movement. The creature wasn’t moving with any type of grace though, kind of doing a slow crawl. Mina turned down to look at the creature. As did Sundari. Fouke started to turn to her and approach the bat creature with an angry glare.“What is that?!” Sundari said.Mina’s Eyes then widened up. They seemed to glint up as if recognizing the bizarre creature approaching them.“Gyges, open it up! Quickly!”Gyges turned. “Open it?! That beast is gonna get in!” He spat out.“That creature on the ground? That’s Savannah!” Mina said.“That’s the bloodsucker?!” Gyges said.Mina nodded. “I saw the eyes. They’re light violet!”Gyges sighed and started to form a whole in the shield. The bat creature rushed in with a few awkward leaps before climbing up the tree rapidly!Mina turned to the bat creature. “Savannah? What happened to you?”The bat creature then shifted into a familiar form.“That monster actually sent me flying straight into a muddy lake!” Savannah said, shaking some of the mud off of her while spitting some of it out. “Blegh! This was one of my better outfits! And some of it got in my mouth!”Sundari turned to her. “And you weren’t able to fight that thing? Some high ranking vampire you stupid bat!” She laughed.Savannah glared at her, her glare shooting arrows at her. “You were absolutely no help at all! You didn’t do anything to that thing either!”“That beast threw you and Lon several meters!”Lon turned to Mina. “Should we do anything before they decide to kill each other or let them tire themselves out?”Mina looked at him. “Well, maybe we should try to intervene,” she said.Gyges turned to them. “Stop this pointless bickering you idiots! Fouke could break through this thing at any minute!”Almost as if by sheer bad luck, the shield fizzled and then came down!“Why did I say that?! This is just our day isn’t it?!” He growled. "Curses!"Fouke turned to the five of them. He seemed to have a very sadistic smile, showing massive fangs in the upper and lower jaw, and now everyone was able to get a good look at just how bulky and muscular this beast was. He was 8 feet tall and looked like he weighed at least 400 lbs! Huge muscles bulged from his chest and arms “There you are trespassers,” Fouke said sneeringly. Gages looked on and prepared to charge his staff to prepare for spell-casting, but Fouke smacked the staff out of his hand! The staff flew into some nearby bushes!“Crap!” Gyges said."PREPARE TO DIE FOR TRESPASSING!!!!!"Gyges' jaw dropped in abject shock. "Are you kidding me?! THAT'S WHY YOU'RE OUT TO GET US?! JUST BECAUSE MY FRIENDS DRANK FROM A POND THEY DID NOT EVEN KNOW WAS IN YOUR TERRITORY?!!!!!""ABSOLUTELY!!!!" Fouke said. Gyges cracked his knuckles. "Somebody grab my staff!"But as soon as he said just that, Fouke grabbed him and locked arms with the sorcerer! Gages pushed back with impressive strength, but Fouke was even more powerful!“Somebody grab that staff!” Gyges said.Mina turned. “Hang on! I’ll help you!” She said. She started a small spell enchantment before sending some magic to Fouke! Fouke hissed in pain and annoyance, but he turned to her. Lon and Sundari leapt down onto Fouke and tackled him! But Fouke knocked Lon off and delivered a swipe! The werewolf spun around, thorns and spikes shooting out in all directions! Everyone ducked and took cover from the quills, many sailing past them as they shot towards them. Savannah leapt down towards the staff and passed it to Gyges!“Thanks!” Gyges said as he caught it.Lon stopped spinning and then rushed back at his bipedal hairy adversary! He then bit Fouke in the leg!“AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!”Fouke screamed out in pain and then punched down on Lon’s back! Lon didn’t even flinch! But Fouke did! He clenched his hand, as if he had injured it somehow.“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! What are you made of?!”Lon let go. “My hide is tougher than your punches!” He growled.Sundari leapt onto the back of Fouke and clawed into him with her back claws while gripping with her front claws!Felids will grip prey with the front claws while they slash into the prey’s side, belly and back with the back claws. This is also effective when fighting enemies too, particularly other felids.Fouke tried to grab at her, but the Weretiger held fast and bit down hard with four inch canines! Savannah shifted into her bat form and also leapt onto the Fouke Monster as Mina also got her axe out!“You still have that thing?!” Everyone shot out."Of course I still have that thing."Mina then leapt out with the axe, but Fouke grabbed her and pulled the axe away! He then threw it and Mina to the ground.Mina stood up. "That was not supposed to be the plan."Mina nodded. “I can use another type of magic, though Sundari, you may not like it,” she said.Sundari turned. “Just do something!”Mina then began muttering something. At that moment, several ghostly bats flew towards Fouke, causing the Fouke Monster to swat at them! But the moths flew away before disappearing.Gyges then shot another blast at Fouke, sending him stumbling. But then, something tackled Fouke! The massive Fouke Monster collapsed before turning. Ichiko Koyote.“So sorry to crash the party Lon,” she said.“No you’re not,” Lon replied. But Fouke turned to her. “Another intruder? I might be eating well tonight. That way nobody will be entering my territory ever again.”“I believe I’m going to be the one who’s eating tonight apeman!” Fouke snarled at her. "No. As a matter of fact, you'll become my next meal. I wondered what exactly a werecreature like you tastes like....."Ichiko seemed to smile. Her red eyes then narrowed with glee. "Very well then Fouke Monster. Then come and get your supper!" she bellowed out before slashing Fouke across the abdomen! Fouke staggered back, but then shook off the pain.Fouke lunged out at her, but Murasaki leapt out from the bushes and at the Fouke Monster! Fouke threw her away, but Ichiko leapt onto his arm. Fouke bashed her into the ground before Murasaki shifted into jaguar form and slashed him.“Go! Run! Run!” Murasaki said to everybody else as Fouke bashed her in the side, knocking her to the ground. Everyone ran, and Fouke ran after Murasaki, with Ichiko not far behind. But a massive shape approached Fouke and tackled him to the ground! Fouke roared.“YOU AGAIN HARVESTAR?!”Benedict had tackled him! Murasaki turned to the vampire.“Old acquaintance of yours I take it Count Harvestar?” Murasaki asked.“In fact yes,” Benedict replied.Fouke lunged at the vampire and Werejaguar, only for Ichiko to lunge into him, sending him catapulting into the river and her as well. However, Ichiko grabbed Murasaki as the werejaguar attacked. Murasaki clawed at Ichiko as she, the Skinwalker and the Fouke Monster flowed down the fast running river! Benedict followed on his massive wings, but Fouke lunged out at him, almost pulling him down! But Benedict bit down hard, his fangs tasting liquid iron as they did! Fouke released his grip, the pain almost overwhelming him!A loud rushing noise could be heard in the distance. Murasaki looked on with horror! A massive waterfall was just in front of them!Suddenly, Sundari flew out of the bushes and knocked Ichiko onto a rock! The two of them soon ended up clawing at each other, hair sent flying and deep wounds being inflicted! Sundari then pinned Ichiko, but Fouke grabbed her!Sundari tríed to pull away, but Fouke held her tightly, increasing pressure. Sundari grit her teeth as the pain started to hit her. “Now you die!” Fouke said with glee. But then, Benedict flew down with such force, Fouke was knocked down, releasing Sundari from his grip! Sundari held onto the wet rock, her bare feet still struggling against the slipper surface of the massive stone she grasped! Ichiko suddenly lunged out, but Savannah rushed out in her bat form, knocking Ichiko into the water and hooking Sundari with her taloned feet!Benedict turned to her as he held Fouke down, edging him towards the waterfall. “Get to the shore with Sundari!”Savannah lifted Sundari up into the air, her massive wings helping power her into the air with remarkable speed as she got out of the water, but her fur was waterlogged, making her takeoff difficult! Then, Ichiko lunged up and grabbed Sundari by the foot!“If I’m going down, I’ll take you with me!”But Murasaki grabbed Ichiko, pulling her off and the soggy vampire flew away with Sundari still in her grasp. “Savannah, take her to the shore! Sundari, I’ll hold off Ichiko!” Murasaki called out.Sundari looked on. “Murasaki, we can take you too!” She cried out in shock.Murasaki turned. “No! There’s not enough time! Besides, this is my fight! I’m not having you die on my account!”Sundari tried to pull away, but Savannah held her tightly though!Murasaki and Ichiko floated through the warm and murky rushing water, before the waterfall inched closer, and closer, and closer with startling speed!Ichiko bit Murasaki but Murasaki clawed Ichiko before pushing off the riverbank!Ichiko looked on in shock. Murasaki looked down at her opponent as she grabbed Ichiko.“At least you’re no longer a threat! And my friends have been avenged!”Both of them went over the waterfall!Fouke went down the raging torrential falls too, roaring as he went down, his screams deafened by the rushing water.Benedict flew over to the bank, where Nicolas was seen with the others. “And where the heck were you?!” Gyges snapped. “Why did you even bother coming back here at all?! The battle’s already over!”“I’m the one who found Count Harvestar! Had that not happened, you’d all be dead! I’m still a hero here!” Nicolas shot back in retortion at Gyges' comment.Savannah landed with Sundari in her grip before the Weretiger pulled free! Nicolas grabbed Savannah as she shivered."You're soaking wet Sav! Are you alright?" he asked in concern.Savannah nodded as she hugged Nicolas in her arms with impressive yet gentle strength. "I'm alright sweetie. Just a little waterlogged is all. But I really don't want to be in that situation where I'm in a rushing river again!"Benedict nodded. "We shouldn't have to worry about that too much, though weigh your risks more carefully next time Miss Blakiston," he said. "However, I am pleased that you took on that task without hesitation.Savannah nodded and smiled somewhat sheepishly.Mina sighed. "Well, at least we were able to defeat Fouke along with the skinwalker. Should we ask Sundari about Murasaki though?" Concern was present within her voice too, and some people were still pretty badly shaken by this.Lon turned to her upon hearing the dhampir's inquiry. "I don't think so. Now's not the time for it. Look," he said, motioning to Sundari.Mina turned to Sundari on the ground. Her gaze soon took a more solemn expression. She sighed too. Savannah also looked on with Nicolas too.Sundari looked on at the river, her eyes widened with horror. Tears welled up in her eyes as she shook seemingly helplessly.Lon looked on. “Murasaki?”Sundari shook her head. “She went over those falls saving Savannah and I,” she replied.Savannah turned to Sundari but said nothing. Mina turned to Savannah, but Savannah pulled away.“I’m sorry Savannah. You did what you could,” Mina said. Savannah shook her head. “I should have done more.”Gyges looked on as Sundari kneeled on the ground, shivering and tears streaming down her face. “I could have saved her…..”Gyges sighed.Benedict turned to Sundari. “Her death will not be in vain. The Skinwalker is no longer a danger, and so the task has been completed. We will hold a vigil for her when we return.”He then unfolded his wings, preparing for flight. “Move out,” he said as he alighted off the ground and into the air. Nicolas and Savannah followed, with Mina, Gyges, Lon and Sundari close behind. “At least that’s over,” Gyges said to himself.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bone chilling wind whips across glassy, marbled stones, which reflect the clusters of golden stars slowly moving above. They are the only visible light, except a soft white glow bouncing feverishly across the surface. Claws scrabble and screech across the jagged surface, as the carrier of the light rushes headlong through the dark. His large eyes are strong enough to use the precious glimmer of the stars to find his way. His long ears flick and turn constantly, listening for something more than the sound of his own bounds. In his mouth, under a furiously twitching nose, hangs a finely designed lantern, the source of the white glow. Waves of color shift across tempered glass that forms its oval shape, and the glow from within almost moves on its own accord, slower and more deliberately than a normal flame.
The holder of the lamp comes to panting stop, his springy hind legs and shorter front limbs demanding rest. He sits back on his haunches to keep the lantern well away from the ground and scan the area. "It should be here" he grunts to himself, but sees nothing besides the universe revolving slowly around him. "Where is it?" A slow drip of blood from his lifted front leg splatters on the smooth rocks and pools at his feet, but he is too preoccupied to give it mind. "Where is the gate?"
At length he has caught his breath enough to gently set the lantern down. He begins to lick his wounds, and clean the dagger like dewclaws that curve out from his front paws. "I am sorry" he sighs out loud. "I didn't think it would end this way."
Nothing replies to his quiet admission of defeat. The approach of malicious steps is so cautious that he is almost caught unawares. But the reflection of glowing green orbs catches his eyes before the pounce, and he twirls to meet the terrible fangs of his pursuer. Above the sounds of the tearing of flesh and the crashing of two bodies in a mortal duel, a wail carries from within the lantern that fades into the endless night.

I'm not the writer of these stories, but I am trying to promote the writer. Would you care to take a look and possibly add them to your gallery?
